Northgate

Project Overview

We’re making improvements on 5th Ave NE in Northgate to make it safer and more comfortable for people to walk, bike, and roll in the neighborhood. These upgrades were requested by community during a “walkshop” in February 2025.

This project is being built as part of the Neighborhood-Initiated Safety Partnership Program, which works with the highest need communities to design and build safety improvements. We expect construction to begin in late 2026.

Project elements include:

Four new speed cushions on 5th Ave NE between NE 97th St and NE 103rd St
Paint and post curb bulbs at 5th Ave NE and NE 98th St. These make it easier for everyone to see each other at intersections. To learn more, click here.
