Highland Park
Project Overview
We’re making improvements on SW Cloverdale St and 7th Ave SW to make it safer and more comfortable for people to walk, bike, and roll in the neighborhood.
We will add two new neighborhood greenways, which are safer, calmer residential streets which prioritize people walking and biking. We’ll add signs and pavement markings to help people find their way and make it easier to cross busy streets with curb ramps, crosswalks, and signal changes.
The new Highland Park Greenways will be on SW Cloverdale St from 5th Ave SW to 10th Ave SW, and on 7th Ave SW from SW Cloverdale St to SW Kenyon St. These new upgrades will make it safer for people to access the Highland Park Elementary School and to connect to an existing neighborhood greenway on 8th Ave SW.
This project is being built as part of the Neighborhood-Initiated Safety Partnership Program, which works with the highest need communities to design and build safety improvements. We expect construction to begin in late 2026.
Project elements include:
- Five new speed humps on SW Cloverdale St between 5th Ave SW and 10th Ave SW
- Six new speed humps on 7th Ave SW between SW Cloverdale St and SW Kenyon St
- New all way stops at 7th Ave SW and Cloverdale St and 10th Ave SW and SW Cloverdale St
- Four new stop signs for side streets along the greenway
- New paint and post curb bulbs at 7th Ave SW and SW Cloverdale St. These make it easier for everyone to see each other at intersections. To learn more, click here.
