Translation Term Base

What is the Translation Term Base?

The Term Base is the official Seattle Department of Transportation translations of frequently used terms and names (such as right-of-way, Seattle Streets Illustrated). We have established translations in the following languages:

  • Amharic
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Filipino/Tagalog
  • Khmer
  • Korean
  • Laotian
  • Oromo
  • Russian
  • Somali
  • Spanish
  • Tigrinya
  • Vietnamese

We have developed our Term Base to ensure consistency in the translations that we produce and as a tool for other City departments, community based organizations, and partner agencies to use when referring to our projects or programs. As a living document, we will continue to add more terms and additional languages. Our term base is should be used as a supplement to the City of Seattle's official term base.
