Project Overview

  • The concept funded by the Levy to Move Seattle through the Neighborhood Street Fund program includes additional lighting, signage, traffic calming and crossing improvements to the triangular traffic island bus stop and the west side of Yale Avenue

  • Increased safety of pedestrians with warnings signs leading up to the intersection, and traffic calming measures for the high number of vehicles turning down Yale Avenue from Denny Way
  • Improved pedestrian mobility by adding a direct cross walk east/west between the island and Denny-Yale sidewalk with new rampslide

Project Background

In 2019, the Denny/Stewart/Yale Safety Enhancements project was one of 15 projects selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT's Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) Program. The project, located at the intersection of Denny Way, Yale Avenue and Stewart Street, aims to enhance safety at this complex intersection through improved lighting, crossing treatments including new ramps, and updated signs and markings.

NOTE: Funds not used for this project will be returned to the NSF program budget.
