Greg Spotts' Listening Tours
One of the best ways to understand a city and its unique, multi-faceted transportation system is to experience it firsthand—and talk face-to-face with the people who use, build, and maintain it every day.
SDOT Director Greg Spotts participated in Listening Tours with non-profit organizations, community stakeholders, our transportation agency partners, City staff, and many other groups. The tours allowed an opportunity to experience travel around Seattle by all modes, visit SDOT work sites, and engage in meaningful discussions about the future.
2,022,020 steps and counting!
From October 9, 2022 to April 8, 2023, Greg took more than 2 million* steps! That's the equivalent of about 897 miles or walking from Seattle to San Francisco—and the number keeps growing!

About the Tours
Since his confirmation as SDOT Director in September 2022, Greg has started many of his workdays by meeting with Seattleites to walk, bike, roll, and take transit throughout the city. Over the past 6 months, these tours were vital to building relationships, experiencing the many diverse communities within the city, and understanding what Seattle's complex transportation system means to the people we serve.
