David Rodgers Park
About
This beautiful park, built on a steeply sculptured hillside, is in the upper portion of 1st Avenue W. Here you will find a play area renovated in 2019 with nature-themed play equipment and fun educational components such as a panel that lists when each state was admitted into the Union. Additionally, there are three tennis courts and public restrooms. Follow the paths that wind down grass-covered knobs and knolls to the Queen Anne Bowl. This park was named in honor of David Rodgers (1864-1923), a Belfast-born master shipfitter who lived in the Puget Sound area from 1900 until his death. He made significant contributions to the nation by building vessels quickly for the war effort, helping to put Seattle on the map.
