Madrona Park Beach Play Area Renovation Project

Updated: February 18, 2021

2020 - Project On Hold

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the City of Seattle are experiencing significant losses in revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This project is on hold pending budget review. More information to come and will be posted on this website.

Thank you to everyone who attended the two public Open Houses, August 28 and October 30, 2019. At the first open house attendees shared their desire to keep the renovation simple, to retain the beautiful lake views and natural play focus at the beach, and to address their concerns about ongoing maintenance. The second open house was an opportunity to review the preferred design for the project.

The presentations and notes from the events are located below. The online survey results are on page two of the October 30 meeting presentation document. Project design will continue through the spring of 2020.

This project will renovate and enhance the beach play area to engage children in natural play with sand, water, driftwood, rocks and vegetation. Additionally, the project will enhance safety and improve play area accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
