Mayfair Park Retaining Wall and Stair Replacement

Summer 2026

Mayfair Park is open and the renovation work within the park is complete.

The project team is working on getting the additional permit requirements met to reconnect the power to the park and re-pave the street where new electrical conduit was installed. This remaining task will be completed by Fall 2026.


Phase 2  
Due to budget limitations the staircase down to Mayfair Ave was not part of this contract.

Budget

The Seattle Parks District provides $1,100,000 in funding for the planning, design, and construction.

Schedule

Planning and Design: Complete
Permitting: Early 2025 - Fall 2025
Construction: October 2025 - Early 2026

Project Description 

Phase 1 

The project will replace the existing timber retaining walls, wood stairs, and wooden light poles/standards that have all reached the end of their usefulness. The project requires some paving repair and removal of a few trees that are either hazardous or need to be removed to accommodate the wall replacement.  

Phase 2 

Wood stairs will be replaced with new concrete steps with steel stringer staircases connecting landing down to Mayfair Ave.  This phase is currently unfunded.
