Join us for an exciting summer serving community as a Seattle Parks and Recreation temporary employee! We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic individuals for a variety of positions this summer to provide welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate, and build community and promote responsible stewardship of the land. 

Employment opportunities are open to individuals ages 16 and up, or 18 and up for some positions. Some positions require a WA State driver’s license, or other certifications. Please review individual job postings for more details.

Lifeguard.... starts at $25.98

Lifeguard (Temporary, Intermittent)

Seattle Parks and Recreation pools and beaches are a vital part of the culture in a city surrounded by water. Join our team to help monitor swimmer safety, rescue persons in distress, and lead instructional programs to help community develop swimming skills.  

Temporary Lifeguards may work summer-only positions at our 9 swim beaches and 2 outdoor pools (Colman and Mounger), and/or year-round positions at our 8 indoor pools.

Recreation Attendant.... starts at $25.98

Wading Pool Attendant

Wading Pool Attendants work an average of 24 hours a week but can work up to 40 hours if needed. Season runs mid-June to Labor Day.

Duties: Oversee the operation of wading pool. Clean, fill, drain, and maintain the water quality of the wading pool and surrounding area. Act as the on-site relations representative of Parks and Recreation. Perform first aid and handle incidents as they arise. 

First Aid and CPR Certificate required and offered within first week of employment. 

Summer Food and Fitness Recreation Attendant 

We are hiring for multiple positions to deliver responsible, exceptional recreation services through summer playground, summer sack lunch, and food and fitness programs. Responsibilities include park site setup and cleanup, proper food storage and record keeping, and other recreation program duties as assigned.  

Up to 40 hours per week, June 16th to August 27th. Work locations vary across multiple park sites in Seattle. 

Summer Recreation Atendant for Youths with Disabilities

Seattle Parks and Recreation - Specialized Programs is excited to announce that we are hiring Recreation Attendants for our youth summer programs. This summer Specialized Programs is running day camps and overnight camps for youths with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
  
 If you love being involved with the community, are interested in working with individuals with disabilities, and want to help engage participants through fun recreation, apply today! Must be 18 years or older.
  
Summer Programs will run weekly Monday June 30th - Friday Aug 22nd, 2025 (No programs July 4th). Hours vary and may be at a different site week to week:

Day camps will take place Mondays through Fridays at either Ravenna Park or Seward Park - Staff shift: 9:00am-3:00pm daily
Overnight camps will take place Tuesdays through Fridays at Camp Long - Staff shift: 12:00pm on Tuesday - 3:00pm on Friday

Summer Recreation Attendant for Adults with Disabilities 

Seattle Parks and Recreation - Specialized Programs is excited to announce that we are hiring Recreation Attendants for our adult summer programs. This summer Specialized Programs is running city-wide day programs for adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
  
 If you love being involved with the community, are interested in working with individuals with disabilities, and want to help engage participants through fun recreation, apply today! Must be 18 years or older.
  
Summer Programs will run weekly Monday June 16th - Friday Aug 22nd, 2025 (No programs July 4th). Hours vary and are at a different site each day:

Mondays at Magnuson Park - Staff shift: 10:00am-2:30pm
Tuesdays at Meadowbrook Community Center - Staff shift: 9:00am-4:00pm
Wednesdays at Seward Park - Staff shift: 9:00am-4:00pm
Fridays at Van Asselt Community Center - Staff Shift: 9:00am-4:00pm
Saturdays July 19th and August 16th - Adult Day Camp at Camp Long- Staff Shift: 8:30am-5:30pm

Recreation Leader.... starts at $31.63

Boat Ramp Ranger 

14 - 24 hours per week from May to September, mostly on weekends.

  • Oversee boat ramp operations.
  • Monitor collection of fees.
  • Direct ramp traffic during peak hours.
  • Perform on-site public relations as a representative of Parks and Recreation
  • Handle incidents as they arise.
  • Clean and maintain facility. 
  • Saturday, Sunday, and holidays are included in the regular schedule. 

Summer Community Engagement Ambassador

Community Engagement Ambassadors build awareness among hard-to-reach audiences about opportunities, services, and City resources. Additionally, they are responsible for increasing and strengthening community participation in City of Seattle services and assisting community in planning and implementing programs, special events, and activities in their respective communities.

Summer Food & Fitness Recreation Leader  

Recreation Leader: Organizes, plans, implements, and leads Outdoor recreation activities such as drama, music, special events and. Coordinates seasonal programs and special activities for recreational programs in Equity Zones

Temporary Recreation Leaders assigned to our City-wide OAMR team plan and implement Food and Fitness, Rec In The Streets (RNTS) Summer Playgrounds/Meals and Career Explorations programming in partnership with community groups to identify and support the wants and needs of their communities. Built on trust, community, engagement, and the desire to strengthen the health of your neighborhoods’ population, OAMR uses interactive, educational, and fun activities to promote health and wellbeing.
