Join us for an exciting summer serving community as a Seattle Parks and Recreation temporary employee! We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic individuals for a variety of positions this summer to provide welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate, and build community and promote responsible stewardship of the land.
Employment opportunities are open to individuals ages 16 and up, or 18 and up for some positions. Some positions require a WA State driver’s license, or other certifications. Please review individual job postings for more details.
Many Recreation programs held in SPR facilities and parks are hired and staffed through our nonprofit partner organization, Associated Recreation Council (ARC).
Lifeguard.... starts at $26.92
Lifeguard (Temporary, Intermittent). Closes June 16, 2026
Seattle Parks and Recreation swimming pools and swimming beaches are a vital part of the culture in a city surrounded by water. Join our team to help monitor swimmer safety, rescue persons in distress, and lead instructional programs to help community develop swimming skills.
Temporary Lifeguards may work summer-only positions at our 9 swim beaches and 2 outdoor pools (Colman and Mounger), and/or year-round positions at our 8 indoor pools.

Recreation Attendant.... starts at $26.92
Wading Pool Attendant. Closes May 12, 2026.
Wading Pool Attendants work an average of 24 hours a week but can work up to 40 hours if needed. Season runs mid-June to Labor Day. Schedules vary by location at over 20 wading pools around Seattle.
Duties: Oversee the operation of wading pool. Clean, fill, drain, and maintain the water quality of the wading pool and surrounding area. Act as the on-site relations representative of Parks and Recreation. Perform first aid and handle incidents as they arise.
First Aid and CPR Certificate required and offered within first week of employment.
Summer Recreation Attendant for Youths with Disabilities. Closes June 15, 2026.
Seattle Parks and Recreation - Specialized Programs is excited to announce that we are hiring Recreation Attendants for our youth summer programs. This summer Specialized Programs is running day camps and overnight camps for youths with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
If you love being involved with the community, are interested in working with individuals with disabilities, and want to help engage participants through fun recreation, apply today! Must be 18 years or older.

Summer Programs will run weekly Monday June 29 - Friday Aug 21, 2026 (No programs on Friday, July 3rd). Hours vary and may be at a different site week to week:
Day camps will take place Mondays through Fridays at either Ravenna Park or Seward Park - Staff shift: 9:00am-3:00pm daily
Overnight camps will take place Tuesdays through Fridays at Camp Long - Staff shift: 12:00pm on Tuesday - 3:00pm on Friday.

Customer Service Representative - Aquatics... starts at $33.47
Customer Service Representative - Aquatics. Closes May 12, 2026.
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is the first person anyone encounters when contacting a swimming pool by phone or in-person. Temporary CSR's may be assigned to seasonal outdoor pools at Colman (West Seattle) or Mounger (Magnolia), year-round indoor pools (citywide), or a mix of both.
Working hours vary based on facility needs and your availability but may include both evening and weekend hours.
- Provides excellent customer service using phone, email and in person communication. Greets customers entering aquatic facility.
- Effectively communicates information about a wide variety of Recreation events, programs, aquatics offerings, opportunities, resources, or other neighborhood/community services.
- Performs transactions in support of registration and building entry, often during busy times requiring poise and attention to detail.
- Explains policies, procedures and requirements related to class enrollment, program participation or facility use.
- Performs customer service, conflict resolution and de-escalation with diverse members of the public including people with English language barriers, people with hearing impairments and other disabilities and people from vulnerable populations such as unhoused individuals.
Recreation Leader.... starts at $34.08
Boat Ramp Ranger. Closes May 12, 2026
14 - 24 hours per week from May to September, mostly on weekends. Eligible to work up to 40 hours per week if needed.
- Oversee boat ramp operations.
- Monitor collection of fees.
- Direct ramp traffic during peak hours.
- Perform on-site public relations as a representative of Parks and Recreation
- Handle incidents as they arise.
- Clean and maintain facility.
- Saturday, Sunday, and holidays are included in the regular schedule.
