Picnic Sites Views Motorized Boat Launches Drinking fountains Restrooms

Located on Harbor Avenue and Maryland Street south of the Duwamish Head, Don Armeni is the most popular of Seattle's saltwater boat ramps. Don Armeni's close proximity to many favorite fishing spots on the south end of Marine Area 10 and the other south Marine Areas makes it a popular ramp for fishers during salmon season. Another attraction is the view. From across Elliott Bay the Seattle waterfront looks spectacular, making Don Armeni a popular spot for ceremonies, photographers, and sightseers.

A boat launch payment machine is located on premise. The machine will accept coins or bills ($1, $5, $10 & $20), and issue a dated ticket. The machine will not provide change.

Current Project

Don Armeni Boat Ramp Improvement

After almost two years of delay, our federal permitting process is back in motion at Don Armeni.

The Army Corps of Engineers and National Marine Fisheries Service were confronted with several emergent priority projects (West Seattle Bridge) and regulatory changes.

Some of the new federal rule changes are outlined here.

Seattle Parks and Recreation is happy to announce that these agencies are now working through a large backlog of permit applications. We are making progress with the City toward securing our city building permit by year end, federal permits will likely follow in 2022

The permit, NWS-2018-1191-WRD - Don Armeni, has been under review since early June 2021 and has been moved forward for Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultation. We expect to have permits in hand by the first quarter of 2022. Construction will follow in summer of 2022.

Throughout the delay, Seattle Parks and Recreation has worked to keep the City permit process live and to extend the timeline for our grant funds. We will continue to post permit updates as we work toward construction. See permit drawings here.

The in-water work windows for Elliott Bay (July through December) will dictate the timing for in-water work. We will not shut the facility down during construction, we will replace the floats one side at a time. One Float will remain open during construction for launching and retrieval.

The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office Boating Facilities Grant and Seattle Parks and Recreation fund this project.
