HIGHLIGHTS

April 29 - May 12: SR99 Viaduct closed for up to two weeks between S. Spokane St. and the Battery Street Tunnel.

April 30: March of Dimes March for Babies will close streets in Downtown and South Lake Union; Mariners and Sounders have games at Safeco and CenturyLink Fields.

May 1: SPD will escort the International Workers Day March from Judkins Park to the Federal Courthouse.

May 7: Opening Day of Boating Season parade and Windermere Cup crew races will close the Montlake Bridge from 10AM to 3PM.

May 8: The Color Run will close streets in South Lake Union and Downtown.

Denny Network project Construction of the Denny substation network will begin on Minor Avenue and on Stewart Street. The contractor plans to begin by installing two large vaults – one on Minor Avenue and one on Stewart Street just south of Minor Avenue. They then plan to connect the vaults with underground duct banks. Work will proceed in this manner down Stewart Street to 6th Avenue. This stage of work is expected to be complete in the summer of 2016.
April 4 Seattle City Light will permanently close Pontius Ave. N. between Denny Way and John St. as part of the Denny Substation Project.

23rd Ave. Corridor Project
Phase 1 - S. Jackson St. to E. John St.
A Seattle Department of Transportation project that will improve safety and mobility for drivers, pedestrians and transit riders. The project includes: modifying 23rd Ave. from a four-lane street to a three-lane street - one lane in each direction with a center left-turn lane (key intersections will stay four lanes); repaving 23rd Ave;
widening sidewalks to at least five feet and repairing broken and buckling sidewalks; installing new streetlights; upgrading traffic signals to give transit priority at key locations; consolidating bus stops to improve transit speed; replacing a 100 year-old water main that runs underneath 23rd Ave.

Work on 23rd Ave. between E. Yesler Wy. and E. Cherry St. is now restored to two-way traffic.  Some intermittent work is still required to complete work on Zone A, including additional sidewalk work, pole installation, electrical work, and landscaping.

March of Dimes March for Babies Annual walk to raise awareness of premature babies.  Event will start and finish at Seattle Center.  Route will use streets in South Lake Union and Downtown Seattle.

2016 Lung Force Walk Annual walk to raise awareness and funds to fight against lung cancer and for lung health.  Event will start and finish at Lake Union Park.  Route will use sidewalks in the South Lake Union neighborhood.

Denny Network project Construction of the Denny substation network will begin on Minor Avenue and on Stewart Street. The contractor plans to begin by installing two large vaults – one on Minor Avenue and one on Stewart Street just south of Minor Avenue. They then plan to connect the vaults with underground duct banks. Work will proceed in this manner down Stewart Street to 6th Avenue. This stage of work is expected to be complete in the summer of 2016.
April 4 Seattle City Light will permanently close Pontius Ave. N. between Denny Way and John St. as part of the Denny Substation Project.

WSDOT I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations - Stage 3 Project will add an HOV lane in each direction of the outer roadway between Seattle and Mercer Island; build an eastbound HOV direct access exit ramp at Island Crest Way on Mercer Island; Upgrade I-90 tunnels fire and life safety systems in Seattle and Mercer Island; prepare the center roadway for Sound Transit's 14-mile East Link rail extension from Seattle to Redmond.

SR520 West Approach Bridge North Project The right lane of westbound SR520 between the West Connection Bridge and Montlake Blvd. will be closed nightly while crews haul out demolition materials.  Work will take place Monday through Thursday nights and occasional Saturdays.
