2nd Ave. Mobility Improvements Project The Seattle Department of Transportation is making traffic signal improvements and extending the existing 2-way protected bike lane along 2nd Ave from Pike St to Denny Way. These improvements will organize the street and move people more efficiently.  Construction will start in early 2017 and the new protected bike lane is scheduled to open in fall 2017.

Seattle City Light Project -
6th Ave. & Cherry St. Duct Bank Installation Project
Seattle City Light plans to install a duct bank between existing electrical vaults at 6th Ave. and Cherry St.  Crews plan to excavate on the west side of 6th Ave. into the south side of Cherry St.  During the first stage of work, 6th Ave. between Columbia St. and Cherry St. will be reduced to two lanes of traffic (9AM - 3PM on weekdays, and 9AM - 6PM on weekends).  In addition, Columbia St. will be reduced to one lane of traffic between 6th Ave. and 5th Ave. (weekends only).  NOTE: This project is temporarily on hold due to crew availability.  Work is expected to resume in early March.

Denny Network project Construction of the Denny substation network will begin on Minor Avenue and on Stewart Street. The contractor plans to begin by installing two large vaults – one on Minor Avenue and one on Stewart Street just south of Minor Avenue. They then plan to connect the vaults with underground duct banks. Work will proceed in this manner down Stewart Street to 6th Avenue. This stage of work is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2016.

Yesler Bridge Rehabilitation Project The Seattle Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the Yesler Way Bridge, located at the intersection of Yesler Way and Terrace St over 4th Ave S, starting as soon as May 2016 and lasting through fall 2017.  Traffic impacts will include: Yesler Way closed in both directions between 3rd Ave. and midway between 5th Ave. and 6th Ave; Terrace St. closed to through traffic, open to local access; 4th Ave. will have ongoing lane closures and occasional full nighttime and weekend closures; sidewalks on either side of 4th Ave. will have alternating closures; transit and bicycle detours in the project area.

E. Union St. Underground Conversions Project
A Seattle City Light contractor will be working in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to install underground electrical conduit, vaults and associated equipment in parts of E. Union St. from 10th to 11th Ave. This work is aligned with the City of Seattle’s ordinance to underground power lines in this area.  Work is expected to last 5 months.

On E. Union St, crews will work on one side of the street at a time during construction.  Customers can expect temporary travel lanes, parking restrictions, sidewalk and bike lane impacts within this work zone.  This phase of work is anticipated for completion in late-February 2017.

WSDOT I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations - Stage 3 Project will add an HOV lane in each direction of the outer roadway between Seattle and Mercer Island; build an eastbound HOV direct access exit ramp at Island Crest Way on Mercer Island; Upgrade I-90 tunnels fire and life safety systems in Seattle and Mercer Island; prepare the center roadway for Sound Transit's 14-mile East Link rail extension from Seattle to Redmond.

23rd Ave. Corridor Project
Phase 1 - S. Jackson St. to E. John St.
A Seattle Department of Transportation project that will improve safety and mobility for drivers, pedestrians and transit riders. The project includes: modifying 23rd Ave. from a four-lane street to a three-lane street - one lane in each direction with a center left-turn lane (key intersections will stay four lanes); repaving 23rd Ave;
widening sidewalks to at least five feet and repairing broken and buckling sidewalks; installing new streetlights; upgrading traffic signals to give transit priority at key locations; consolidating bus stops to improve transit speed; replacing a 100 year-old water main that runs underneath 23rd Ave.

Work on 23rd Ave. between E. Yesler Wy. and E. Cherry St. is now restored to two-way traffic.  Some intermittent work is still required to complete work on Zone A, including additional sidewalk work, pole installation, electrical work, and landscaping.

Until further notice The North Seattle Park-and-Ride lot and interim Park-and-Ride lot located near the former Marie Callender's restaurant in Northgate will close Monday, March 17, 2016.  The new interim Park-and-Ride will be located at the NW corner of NE 103rd St. and 5th Ave. NE.
Until further notice Upcoming construction of the Northgate light rail station will occupy space in the Northgate Park-and-Ride (West).  Fencing will go up around the middle section of the West lot as early as Dec. 7, 2016.  To offset the loss of those stalls, the north end of the former North Seattle Park & Ride will reopen on the west side of 1st Ave NE between NE 100th and 103rd Streets.

Yesler Bridge Rehabilitation Project The Seattle Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the Yesler Way Bridge, located at the intersection of Yesler Way and Terrace St over 4th Ave S, starting as soon as May 2016 and lasting through fall 2017.  Traffic impacts will include: Yesler Way closed in both directions between 3rd Ave. and midway between 5th Ave. and 6th Ave; Terrace St. closed to through traffic, open to local access; 4th Ave. will have ongoing lane closures and occasional full nighttime and weekend closures; sidewalks on either side of 4th Ave. will have alternating closures; transit and bicycle detours in the project area.

Denny Network project Construction of the Denny substation network will begin on Minor Avenue and on Stewart Street. The contractor plans to begin by installing two large vaults – one on Minor Avenue and one on Stewart Street just south of Minor Avenue.
