August 2017 to 2023Washington State Ferries - Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock ProjectWashington State Ferries is replacing the aging and seismically vulnerable parts of Colman Dock in Seattle in order to maintain its critical role as a regional multimodal transportation hub. Key project elements include: Replacing the existing timber trestle portion of the dock with a new concrete and steel trestle; Replacing the main terminal building; Replacing the passenger-only ferry facility on the south edge of Colman Dock; Constructing a new elevated walkway between the terminal building and the passenger-only ferry facility; Replacing the overhead loading facility on the northernmost slip; Adding a bicycle entry and holding area north of Marion Street; Maintaining an elevated connection between the terminal building and the Marion St. Bridge; Providing stairs and elevators to connect the facility to Alaskan Wy.
August 2017 to Fall 2018The King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Transit Fast Ferry will operate out of a temporary location on the north side of Colman Dock. During this time, passengers will enter from Alaskan Way between Madison St. and Marion St.
May 2 to early-20183rd Ave. Arterial Paving ProjectThe Seattle Department of Transportation will repave 3rd Ave. through Belltown (Virginia St to Broad St). Construction is currently slated to begin on Tuesday, May 2. Crews will work from south to north, with the project area divided into four construction zones. Work must be substantially complete in one zone before the contractor moves onto the next.
Zone 1 May 2 through early August3rd Ave. reduced to one lane in each direction between Virginia St. and Blanchard St. Parking restricted on both sides of 3rd Ave.
Zone 2 July through early September3rd Ave. reduced to one lane in each direction between Battery St. and Broad St. Parking restricted on both sides of 3rd Ave.
January 2017 to Fall 20172nd Ave. Mobility Improvements ProjectThe Seattle Department of Transportation is making traffic signal improvements and extending the existing 2-way protected bike lane along 2nd Ave from Pike St to Denny Way. These improvements will organize the street and move people more efficiently. Construction will start in early 2017 and the new protected bike lane is scheduled to open in fall 2017.
February 13 through September 2017Sidewalk, parking lane, and traffic lane restrictions on 2nd Ave. between Denny Way and Pike St. during potholing for underground utilities, and signal and foundation work. During working hours, one lane will remain open at all times north of Lenora St; two lanes will remain open south of Lenora St. Work hours are 7AM to 6PM weekdays. Intermittent lane closures on cross-streets are also possible during working hours.
February 29 2016 to mid-2018Denny Network projectCity Light's contractor, Shimmick Construction Company, Inc., began construction of the Denny Substation network on February 29, 2016. Work on the network will be completed in six stages. Each stage will begin with the installation of vaults, followed by the installation of a duct bank system that will connect the vaults. Street restoration will conclude each stage. The project is expected to be complete by mid-2018.

Traffic impacts will include: Yesler Way closed in both directions between 3rd Ave. and midway between 5th Ave. and 6th Ave; Terrace St. closed to through traffic, open to local access; 4th Ave. will have ongoing lane closures and occasional full nighttime and weekend closures; sidewalks on either side of 4th Ave. will have alternating closures; transit and bicycle detours in the project area.
Until further notice 24/7Elliott Bay Seawall ProjectTraffic on Alaskan Wy. S./Alaskan Wy. will be shifted to beneath the Viaduct between S. King St. and Pike St. Traffic will also be shifted to the east side of Alaskan Wy. between Pike St. and Virginia St.
Until further notice 24/7As seawall construction expands to the area adjacent to Colman Dock, ferry access for bicyclists and vehicles will shift to Yesler Wy. Pedestrian access will be maintained via the Marion St. pedestrian bridge, and at street-level between Marion and Columbia St.
Until further notice 24/7The Marion St. driveway at the Colman Dock shifts north, between Marion St. and Madison St. During this time most vehicles will exit Colman Dock at Yesler Wy. Union St. Underground Conversions ProjectA Seattle City Light contractor will be working in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to install underground electrical conduit, vaults and associated equipment in parts of E. Union St. from 10th to 11th Ave. This work is aligned with the City of Seattles ordinance to underground power lines in this area. Work is expected to last 5 months.
Stage 1 - 3Work is complete in stages 1 - 3.
May - July 2017 Stage 4Stage 4 work will occur on E. Union St. between 11th Ave. and 12th Ave. Customers can expect temporary travel lanes, parking restrictions, sidewalk and bike lane impacts within this work zone.
