Late Night Paid Parking Hours Project

New – Payment until 10 PM, no time limit after 5 PM starting at the end of October

Starting in late October, SDOT will extend paid parking hours from 8 PM to 10 PM in the Pike-Pine and Broadway business districts, with no time limit after 5 PM.

Charging for parking during these times when parking demand remains very high will improve access for Capitol Hill visitors and customers. Funding for this project was in the 2017 City Budget adopted by the City Council last November.

Background

  • The Seattle Municipal Code says parking rates and hours of operation should be set and adjusted so about 1-2 spaces are available on each block throughout the paid parking day. SDOT collects parking data adjusts rates annually in all paid parking areas.
  • This project was included in the 2017 Budget adopted by the City Council last November.
  • SDOT data shows parking in Capitol Hill is full after 7 PM until 10 PM, that finding an available parking space is very difficult.
