Magnolia Community Center Stabilization

Updated: December 18, 2025

Early 2026

Magnolia Community Center is opening and excited to welcome the community back.  Please join us for the official Welcome Back Ribbon Cutting event on Jan 10 at 11 a.m. The event will feature music, an opportunity to explore the improvements and provide input on the future programming.

A delay in opening the community center occurred due to the need for an emergency replacement of the gym floor. The gym floor was not scheduled to be replaced during the stabilization, only patched, where footings were installed for the seismic reinforcement of the gym. During final cleanup and refinishing, it was discovered that the floor had suffered significant breaks. For safety, we need to do a total replacement of the gym floor.

Thank you to the contractor, Kassel & Associates, Inc., who mobilized and began work on June 10, 2024. Community members will see construction fencing erected closely around the Community Center to allow continued sidewalk access. Kassel & Associates has elected to house the job site office within the building to reduce the staging footprint on-site. The construction staging area provides uninterrupted access to the parking lot for Catherine Blaine Elementary teachers, staff, children, and their families.

Thank you to the Community for your input, advocacy and support during the planning and design stages of this project.

Project Description

Magnolia Community Center was identified in the 2016 Community Center Strategic Plan for a major maintenance project focused on extending the life of the facility and increasing programming potential.

The facility will be closed for a minimum of a year during construction for the extensive building and accessibility upgrades.
