Current Project

Magnolia Neighborhood Skate Park Conceptual Design Study

Project Goal

To establish a skate park conceptual design showing potential configurations and locations within Magnolia Playfield for a new skate park. We will have a budget estimate for the construction of a skatepark for the preferred concept developed through public design review meetings.

The Magnolia Community Center Advisory Council sponsors the study and has partnered with Grindline Skateparks to develop the concepts. The size of the skate park (“Skate Dot”) is up to 1500 sq. ft. in keeping with the 2007 Citywide Skatepark Plan. It will be located within Magnolia Playfield, and three possible locations have been identified through a consultative process. Grindline Skateparks solicited and incorporated feedback from the community on possible locations during two community design meetings that resulted in the selection of likely skate dot location and preliminary conceptual design The project team will present a detailed location and site analysis along with a preliminary conceptual design at the July 23, 2024 ProView meeting.

The skate park is currently envisioned to be a multi-use facility compatible with skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, tricycles, and bicycles. The skate park will be targeted towards beginner and intermediate skill levels and will provide the neighborhood kids with a safe and healthy outdoor activity.

Budget

Phase 1 - Initial Design Concept is $5000 from a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
