About

Moved to 2025: Queen Anne Community Center Renovation

On the top of Queen Anne Hill, Queen Anne Community Center is a hub of fun, learning, recreation and leisure for people of all ages. This is a place that fosters a true sense of community as many neighborhood residents are involved in the center as volunteers, coaches, instructors and participants. Built in 1950, the two-story facility consists of a gym, pottery room, teen room, preschool room, senior room, before- and after-school rooms, weight room, meeting rooms, office space, lobby area, locker rooms, and a small kitchen (upstairs) as well as a medium-sized kitchen (downstairs).

Outside, the community center fronts West Queen Anne Playfield ("Big Howe") that has two softball fields and a baseball field, as well as a popular children's play area. Adjoining the building is McClure Middle School and Queen Anne Pool is across the street to the west. And the vibrant Queen Anne business district is just a block away along Queen Anne Avenue.

The center is home to numerous activities, programs and community events. Among them are Queen Anne Days every summer with food, bounce houses, a wine and beer garden, and vendors; a Fun Run to raise money for the Queen Anne Helpline; a parade and sidewalk sale; and Family Fun Nights with games, toys and bounce houses. Youth sports are very popular with basketball, track, volleyball, and flag football teams. The senior programs are active with more than 25 classes per quarter including yoga, tai chi, circuit training, arthritis exercise, Zumba, line dancing, and senor aerobics.
