Roxhill Park is a vibrant central hub of community activity on the southern edge of West Seattle. Featuring a premier skate park, community-built and beloved playground locals call Castle Park, a picnicking and BBQ area, two soccer fields and two baseball fields, the park also provides approximately a mile of flat gravel and paved trails winding through a unique 5.3-acre natural wetland, the headwaters of Longfellow Creek. Visitors can spot native species of plants and animals in an environmental learning setting of the wetland.
Projects
Wetland Stewardship: The community group Roxhill Park Champions (RoxhillPark.org) holds monthly maintenance parties starting at 9am on the first Saturday of every month to remove wetland invasive species, remove litter from trails and maintain native plantings. Volunteers meet at the park restrooms just before the start time. The program is open to everyone.
Community Events and Public Safety Programs: The Roxhill Champions (RoxhillPark.org) is working with the Seattle Parks Commons Program to improve the social climate of Roxhill Park to make it safe and accessible for all groups at all age levels. The program is open to anyone interested in sharing their volunteer time on an existing program or bringing their ideas to create a new activity. All welcome.
