T. T. Minor Playground Play Area Renovation

Updated: February 15, 2024

Early 2024

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Fall 2023 public meetings. We reviewed three project ideas and learned about community wishes for the future Play Area.

Our project team is working to finalize the design and we will reach back out to the community to share the future play area design. Please stay tuned for additional updates.

Of the three playground equipment options, “Option C”  was preferred. This option was a little more “mod” than Options A and B; higher up, with shade structures. Play equipment is usually categorized for kids from 2-5 and 5-12., However, the 5-12 “Option C” had elements that could be fun for older kids including younger teens. Since the adjacent school is a high school, this was important. We heard support for any kind of bars that provided opportunities for pull-ups. While this is included in “Option C”,  SPR is exploring the possibility of adding a simple pull-up bar near the play area.

Project Description

This project will replace the play equipment for both younger and older children. Pathway paving will be selectively replaced to ensure an accessible route to and through the play area. Reducing the size of the sandbox area to allow space for other uses may also be considered.

The play area will be closed throughout construction.
