Artificial Turf Replacement - Genessee Playfields 1&2

Spring 2024

This project will replace the aging synthetic turf at Genesee Playfields 1 & 2. The project will include the removal of the old ‘worn out’ synthetic turf and address any structural repairs to curbing, sub-subsurface, and drainage. The 2024/2025 synthetic turf system will be installed for recreational play.  
 
Seattle Parks and Recreation continues to lead the way in developing and installing alternate synthetic turf field design sections/materials to deliver a safe, durable, and playable athletic facility experience.

Budget

The budget for the planning, design, and construction of the synthetic turf replacement is $4,950,000.  Funding is provided by the Seattle Metropolitan Park District.

Playfield 2 (Upper) - August 2024  
Playfield 1(Lower) -  March 2025

Project Description

The 2024/2025 synthetic turf system will be installed for recreational play. 

The fields will be closed during construction. SPR and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impacts to the roadways and neighborhood.
