Last updated: August 28, 2017

Children

What's happening now?

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) plans to construct safety and access improvements as early as late 2017 near Wing Luke and Van Asselt Elementary Schools, along 37th Ave S and S Cloverdale St. Well share more information about the schedule for construction when a contractor is selected.

Project overview

This Safe Routes to School (SRTS) project will make the it safer and easier for kids, families, and neighbors to walk and bike to Wing Luke and Van Asselt Elementary Schools along 37th Ave S and S Cloverdale St. It also supports programs that educate and encourage kids to walk and bike safely to school. This will help achieve Seattle's Vision Zero to end traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030.

Please see our project fact sheet for more information.

This project includes:

  • New sidewalks and curb ramps on the north side of S Cloverdale St between Beacon Ave S and Martin Luther King Jr Way S
  • New sidewalks and curb ramps on the east side of 37th Ave S between S Cloverdale St and S Thistle St
  • New curbs, gutters, and planting strips with trees
  • On-street parking will be maintained in most locations
