What's happening now?

This project is now in the early stages of design and we'd like to hear from you before we move forward with design in 2020 and construction in 2021.

There are several ways to submit your feedback:

  • Call 206-733-9361. When leaving a voicemail, be sure to state which project you're calling about and whether you'd like a return call from our team.
  • Review project concepts and submit your feedback via a comment form at participating libraries and community centers (click here to find a library or community center near you). Comment forms are available in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Somali and Vietnamese.  To request comment forms in other languages or other reasonable accommodations or assistance, please contact us at: NSF@seattle.gov or 206-733-9361

Project Overview

In 2019, the South Park and Georgetown Safe Connections was one of 15 selected projects by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT's Neighborhood Street Fund Program

Elements

  • New marked crosswalk across E Marginal Way S and across 16th Ave S.
  • New green bicycle crossings across E Marginal Way S and across 16th Ave S.
  • New Bike lane protection for the southbound bike lane on E Marginal Way S as it approaches the intersection of 16th Ave S. 

Benefits

  • Enhanced safety for people crossing the intersection of E Marginal Way S and 16th Ave S.
  • Enhanced accessibility for people using mobility devices, riding bikes, or pushing strollers. 

Design

Features of the South Park and Georgetown Safe Connections project include a new protected bike lane, pedestrian countdown signal and pushbutton, and curb ramp enhancements.

Schedule

The NSF program runs on 3-year cycles to select, design, and build projects. The application phase for the 2019-2021 cycle opened October 2018 and projects will be constructed in 2021.NSF timeline

Project Background

In 2019, the South Park and Georgetown Safe Connections was one of 15 projects selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT's Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) Program. The project, located at the intersection of E Marginal Way S and 16th Ave S aims to enhance the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists crossing the street.
