Draft Small Wireless Facilities Design Standards

Program Update

On February 13, 2020, we published our proposed Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) Director's Rule on Design Standards for Small Wireless Facilities (SWF) attached to public and private poles within City of Seattle right-of-way. These standards are being proposed in order to reduce visual impacts to the streets and sidewalks that form the public right-of-way by establishing rules concerning SWF design. We have completed an environmental review and issued a SEPA Threshold Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) for this non-project proposed rule.

You can read the proposed SWF design standards here, which include diagrams and photos to help visualize these installations. You can review the SEPA Threshold Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) here, as well as the SEPA Checklist

If you have comments on the proposed design standards and the associated SEPA DNS, the public comment period runs for two weeks from February 13, 2020 and closes on February 27, 2020 at 5pm. In addition, any interested party may appeal the SEPA DNS by submitting a Notice of Appeal and a filing fee to the Office of the Hearing Examiner no later than 5:00pm on March 5, 2020. Please see the DNS for more information on submitting appeals.

Comments may be submitted online, by email at telecom.wireless@seattle.gov, or by mail to:
