S Jackson St Corridor Improvements

Updated: January 22, 2019

 This project is complete!

This project was completed in December 2018.

We completed construction in December 2018. The new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at S Jackson St (between 20th Ave S and 23rd Ave S) enhances pedestrian safety and improves connections at one of the busiest streets in the Central District neighborhood.

We’d like to thank residents, businesses, school staff, and other community members for your patience during this Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) project; this wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Funds not used for this project were returned to the NSF program budget.

Project Background

The S Jackson St Corridor Improvements project is located in the Central District neighborhood in Seattle. In 2016, the project was one of 12 selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT’s Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) program.

Final Design Concept

In early 2017, we presented an early design concept to the public through field visits, emails, and briefings with community groups. The feedback we received helped inform final design.

Project Funding

Funding came from the 2015 voter-approved, nine-year Levy to Move Seattle, which improves safety for all travelers, maintains streets and bridges, and invests in reliable, affordable travel options for a growing city. The levy includes $24 million to continue the Neighborhood Street Fund program over the nine years.
