Alley Activation

SDOT supports community-led efforts to create people-friendly alleys. Seattle residents and businesses are transforming alleys in their neighborhoods into lively public spaces by adding elements like overhead and storefront lighting, creative art installations, planter boxes, shared seating, and new paving.

Alleys can be great places for people to gather for special events. For example, Nord Alley in Pioneer Square has hosted concerts, art shows, dance performances, and a World Cup viewing party in 2010.
If you want to turn an alley in your neighborhood into an active and vibrant community space, we're here to help!
