Little Brook Sidewalks

Updated: February 21, 2024

What’s happening now?

We are excited to share that construction for the NE 143rd St Sidewalk is anticipated to resume work on February 26, and will last approximately 4 weeks!

The new sidewalk will provide dedicated space for people to walk and connect to recently completed sidewalks on 32nd Ave NE.

Improvements and changes include:

  • New concrete sidewalk on the north side of NE 143rd St between 30th Ave NE and 32nd Ave NE.
  • Existing driveways will be rebuilt per City standards.
  • Parallel parking will be maintained on the north side of the street adjacent to the new sidewalk.
  • Perpendicular parking will not be permitted adjacent to the new sidewalk within the right-of-way.

This is what you can expect during construction:

  • Typical work hours are between 7AM – 5PM

  • Noise, dust, vibrations, and some equipment staging during construction hours.

  • Temporary closure of some parking and curb lanes.

  • Driveways may be temporarily blocked. Residents will be notified of any driveway closures at least 48 hours in advance

Project Overview

Little Brook is a rapidly growing neighborhood lacking sidewalks at key locations. This project will improve walkability by constructing new sidewalks on 143rd St to fill gaps in the sidewalk network and connect people walking to transit, businesses, and community destinations.

The new sidewalk on 143rd St will provide a safer, more comfortable, and more accessible route for walking and rolling along this neighborhood, while helping to improve drainage and slow down driver speeds on residential streets

Project Background

In 2019, the Little Brook Sidewalks project was one of 15 projects selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT’s Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) Program. The project, located on 32nd Ave NE and NE 143rd St in Little Brook, aims to improve walkability in Little Brook through the construction of new sidewalk and walkway improvements.

We completed a new sidewalk on 32nd Ave NE in 2022 and completed a new painted walkway on the north side of NE 143rd St in 2023.

Project Funding

This project is funded by the 9-year Levy to Move Seattle, approved by voters in 2015. Learn more about the levy at www.seattle.gov/LevytoMoveSeattle.
