Age of the Forest in the Cedar River Municipal Watershed


Starting in the early 1900s, the forest in the municipal watershed was clearcut from the west to the east. The most recent clearcuts (1971- 1994) were often adjacent to the old-growth forest in the eastern portion of the watershed. This created fragmentation and isolation of the old-growth forest habitat upon which many at-risk species depend.
