Project Description

City Light is working to replace aging streetlighting in the Magnolia neighborhood. This streetlighting pilot program provides an opportunity for community members to take part in deciding the new model of streetlight in their neighborhood. Survey results closed early 2023, the community chosen fixture is the LED Ancestra fixture in a light grey color. We are working to make this fixture compatible with the existing streetlighting infrastructure and expect to start installing these new LED fixtures in summer 2024.

What's Happening Now?

Project Update (December 2023): The LED Ancestra fixture has been chosen by the community. City Light is working to make this fixture compatible with the existing streetlighting infrastructure and expect to start installing these new LED fixtures in summer 2024. See prototype fixture above.

Community Benefits

  • After the pilot program, new streetlights will be installed to replace current streetlights. Approximately 445 streetlights will be replaced in the Magnolia area. These new fixtures will provide more efficient and reliable lighting to the area.

Anticipated Impacts

  • There are no planned outages for this project.

  • City Light has ordered the new fixtures from suppliers. Delivery is expected in summer 2024.
