Citywide Safety Unit
We're all responsible for workplace safety. The Seattle Department of Human Resources (SDHR) Safety Unit partners with safety officers throughout the City to promote a safe and healthful work environment.
Together, we:
- Conduct pre-employment and ongoing medical examinations
- Evaluate exposures to safety hazards
- Assess and correct ergonomic hazards for all employees
- Operate the City's drug testing program and commercial driver program
We also work with Human Resources and Safety staff to:
- Develop Citywide safety policies and procedures
- Create and deliver safety training and education programs
- Conduct Citywide Safety meetings to share safety issues and concerns across multiple departments
