Backyard Pickup Service

Need help getting your carts from your yard to the curb or alley? For an additional fee, single family customers (houses and properties with less than 4 units) can have their garbage picked up from their yard.

Backyard service in not available for recycling and food & yard waste (compost). Fees can be waived for eligible residents. Call Seattle Public Utilities Customer Service at (206) 684-3000 to sign up.

 

Eligibility for free backyard service

You may qualify for an exemption from the backyard service charge if all of these apply to you:

  • Have curbside or alley garbage collection
  • Have physical or mental disabilities or a health problem that prevents you from taking your waste to the curb or alley for collection (medical verification may be required)
  • Don't have anyone living in the home who can assist you
  • Have a yard with challenging terrain or landscaping
