Take-Out Containers

In recycling – rinse first

  • Empty and rinsed plastic clamshell containers
  • Empty and rinsed plastic-coated (shiny) paper containers

In food and yard waste

  • Dirty or clean uncoated (not shiny) paper take-out containers
  • Dirty or clean take-out containers labeled “Compostable” or “#7 PLA”
  • Greasy pizza boxes

  • Styrofoam containers
  • Dirty plastic-coated (shiny) paper containers
  • Dirty plastic containers that aren’t marked “Compostable” or “#7 PLA”

Decrease waste: Choose reusable items or donate to thrift stores.
