Tenant Summary

Information for Tenants

Landlords are required by law to give you a document called Information for Tenants with:

  • Every rental application
  • Every new rental agreement
  • At the renewal of a rental agreement
  • At least once every year for month-to-month tenants
  • When the document has been updated

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) produces the document. Information for Tenants summarizes rental regulations and outlines the obligations and responsibilities of both tenants and landlords. It also includes voter registration information. Landlords must give you a paper copy when you apply to rent or sign a new rental agreement. After you move in, they can send future copies to you by email. Translated versions are available.
