Pledges of Rent Assistance

If you issue a 14 day notice to pay rent or vacate and your tenant is able to secure help from a third party, you must accept a written pledge of payment. Here are the requirements: 

• The pledge must be in writing.
• The pledge must be received before the 14 day notice expires.
• The pledge source/subsidy program must commit to paying the pledge within 5 days.
• The pledge source/subsidy program must not commit you to anything other than providing information for payment.
• The payment must be enough to allow the tenant to become current on all costs on its own or in combination with other sources of income or subsidies.
