Is My Unit Registered?

Since 2014, the City requires every rental unit in Seattle to be registered under the Rental Registration Inspection Ordinance (RRIO) with few exceptions. The program establishes minimum standards required for rental housing in the City of Seattle. Some housing is exempted from registration such as Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) owned housing, and owner-occupied rentals.

Owners certify that the property meets the requirements of the RRIO checklist. Registration is renewed every two years.  Properties are chosen for inspection every 5-10 years. Find out more about how to register your property.
