Strategic Business Plan

Building the 2021-2026 Plan

Positioning for the future, focusing on affordability

The Strategic Business Plan (SBP) helps Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) better meet the needs of all customers and communities. Created in 2015, the plan is updated every three years and informed by input from customers, employees, elected officials and an independent Customer Review Panel. Customers can share their input on the new 2021-2026 plan by taking our quick, 5-minute survey.

The 2021-2026 plan will build on SPU's strengths and sharpen our focus for the future. SPU remains a community centered utility, protecting public health and the environment through safe drinking water, effective drainage and wastewater systems, and solid waste services.

The new plan will include a set of actions that enhance the way we deliver services and help ensure that accountability and affordability are built into the way we do business. SPU is committed to providing value, managing long-term risks and partnering with the community to prepare for climate change and other risks and uncertainty that can impact customers.

The new plan will also include a renewed focus on equity and empowerment. It will build on our decade of advancing equity and inclusion in communities and within our workforce by strengthening relationships and developing new community partnerships.
