SOUTH TRANSFER STATION CLOSED AUGUST 2025

Skip a Trip. Plan Ahead. Know Where To Go.

The South Transfer Station will be closed to the public and all account holders from August 4 to August 29, 2025 for essential repairs. We will be replacing 35,000 square feet of the station floor to maintain safe, efficient waste handling and ensure uninterrupted service in the future.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve our facility. Please be patient when visiting temporary alternative locations as they may experience delays due to increased traffic. For updates and more info, continue to check this page and follow us on social media.

Skip a Trip

  • Hold onto non-hazardous waste and visit when the station reopens
  • Use the Where Does It Go? tool to find donation or disposal alternatives
  • Consider using our Special Item Pickup service for home pickups of bulky items, including:
    • Mattresses and box springs (incur extra fees at King County stations)
    • Appliances (King County Renton does not accept appliances)

Plan Ahead

  • Reschedule large waste-generating projects if possible
  • If disposal is necessary, visit the websites of alternate locations to confirm accepted items, wait times, and fees
  • Most facilities require waste to be sorted before disposal and loads to be secure
  • King County facilities do not take motor vehicles or parts

Know Where to Go

  • See below for list of temporary alternative locations for disposal
  • Mixed Construction & Demolition (C&D) materials must go to Eastmont or Black River
  • Recyclable C&D materials must go to designated recyclers
  • Large hydraulic truck or trailer loads must go to North Transfer Station or Eastmont. Eastmont does not allow hand-unloading.
