Species- Habitat Modeling

Mapping potential spotted owl habitat in the upper watershed helps us plan restoration work

We evaluated wildlife habitat within the municipal watershed using published species-habitat models and known species parameters. This enabled us to predict the potential effects of different habitat restoration scenarios on selected individual species or species groups within the landscape of the watershed.

Several types of models were used, including the ecological relationships between the selected wildlife species and habitat conditions, and comparing existing and expected habitat distributions over particular areas within the watershed. Results from this project help us predict the locations and types of restoration that will most benefit at-risk species.
