Road Improvements

new bridge

Placing a new bridge that will allow a more natural water flow pattern.

Road improvements increase the functionality of the watershed road system while maintaining more natural water flow patterns, reducing sediment delivery to water bodies, and reconnecting fish habitat. Roads with priority stream crossings are upgraded to provide passage of 100-year flows, and problem stream crossings are stabilized to reduce erosion.

Ditches are designed to empty away from streambeds, and cross-drains under roads mimic the natural hillside flow patterns. Fish passage structures are constructed in specific locations where roads break the connectivity of fish habitat, and fish would significantly benefit from access to upstream habitat.

New roads may be constructed for emergency reasons or to establish access to new projects. Any such new roads will be constructed according to rigorous standards to prevent road-related problems.
