SPU helps businesses maximize what they recycle, compost, and reuse to reduce waste and save up to 30% on their waste bills. SPU supports Seattle businesses to switch to reusable packaging and to comply with the city’s recycling and composting requirements and food service packaging requirements. We also offer free recycling and composting trainings and bin signage. Learn more about how to reduce waste.

Prevent Water Pollution

Businesses can protect Seattle's waterways from pollution by managing stormwater outside their buildings, keeping trash out of toilets, and properly handling fats, oils, and grease in the kitchen. Our laws require Seattle businesses to help protect our waterways. Learn more about water pollution.
