About Human Services
The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is one of the largest contributors to Seattle's safety net. We advance our Vision and Mission by investing in community-based organizations and programs that support strong and healthy communities.
We do this work in collaboration with the Mayor's Office, the Seattle City Council, King County, United Way of King County, Public Health—Seattle & King County, and many, many other regional partners. Learn more about HSD.
More than 2.8 million community meals served to low‐income and vulnerable populations in 2024
- More than 34,000 Utility Discount Program (UDP) customers enrolled—8,318 new to the program in 2024
- 138,457 home food deliveries to Seattle residents in 2024, a 20 percent increase from the previous year
- 240,531 dental and/or medical visits provided to low-income and vulnerable populations
- 293 youth participated in paid opportunities through the Seattle Youth Employment Program
- 8,359 survivors received domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or gender-based violence services
- 20,527 people contacted Community Living Connections and 15,383 long-term care assessments completed
