Automated External Defibrillators
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are a useful tool when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest. They are portable, user friendly and can be found in easily accessible locations throughout the City of Seattle.
AEDs have step by step visual and verbal instructions for users. They do not require training to use and can save a person’s life.
PulsePoint Applications
The Seattle Fire Department partners with PulsePoint AED, a free mobile application that indicates locations of registered AEDs near you. The application also allows users to register AEDs not already shown on the map.
Additionally, PulsePoint offers the application PulsePoint Respond, which allows users to opt-in to receive notifications regarding nearby instances of cardiac arrest. This provides bystanders the opportunity to initiate CPR prior to the arrival of first responders, which increases the chance of survival.
