Fire Investigation Unit

The Seattle Fire Investigation Unit has seven trained and certified fire investigators. The goal for fire investigators is to determine the causes and origins of fires. The investigators collect evidence at the scene and document their findings. The Seattle Police Department uses those findings in their criminal investigation.

Fire incident records requests are handled through the City's public records portal.
