Project Hire
Project Hire is a job referral program designed to support City employees who are at risk of layoff or have been laid off due to reorganization. The program’s goal is to help employees transition into other City positions before their employment ends or as soon as possible after layoff.
Project Hire is not a job placement or job search program and does not guarantee employment.

Unemployment Benefits: The Employment Security Department provides unemployment benefits when you lose your job through no fault of your own. These benefits can help support you while you look for work. They are not based on your financial needs.

Re-Employment Services: Washington Worksource can help you with your reemployment needs. They can assist with job searches, resume writing, interview techniques, and offer helpful workshops and more.

Healthcare Options: Washington Healthplanfinder can assist with searching for and enrolling in a healthcare plan that best meets your needs, get access to federal tax credits, learn about Cascade Care Savings state subsidy, and sign up for Washington Apple Health.

Support Services: Washington Connection is the state’s online portal for applying for and managing a variety of public benefits. Washington residents may qualify for federal, state, tribal, or local benefits.

Employee Benefit & Protection Guidance (DOL): The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration enforces Title 1 of ERISA and can help answer questions related to COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, 401k, pensions, and other benefit protections.

Free and Discounted Resources for Seattleites: This centralized webpage allows Seattle residents to view and access more than 100 free and discounted resources and benefits provided by the City and its partners to eligible residents.

Learn new skills by taking free online learning courses through online learning at the Seattle Public Library (library card required).

Check out Community & Technical Colleges classes. Local community colleges help dislocated workers secure job training through the state-funded Worker Retraining Program.
