Seattle Municipal Court (SMC) has received reports of scams asking people to pay money to “resolve” criminal or misdemeanor cases. SMC and attorneys involved in court cases will never ask for immediate or direct payment.
SMC also will not send text messages asking you to scan QR codes for hearing notices about tolls. Do not scan the code or click any links. Delete the message and verify case information directly through the court’s official website or clerk’s office.
