**Warning: Text Scam Reports**
We have had reports that individuals have been engaging in a caller ID spoofing scam, using Seattle Municipal Court phone numbers, and scams involving text messages, some with QR codes. No one from SMC will call you and ask for your personal information or request money. If you should get one of these calls, please hang up and try calling the number displayed in the caller ID to see where the call is coming from. The FCC website (https://www.fcc.gov/spoofing) is a great resource to learn more about caller ID spoofing, including how to file a complaint if you think you have become a victim of a spoofing scam.
Seattle Municipal Court provides a forum to resolve alleged violations of the law in a respectful, independent and impartial manner.
Meet the Judges
The Seattle Municipal Court's seven judges are elected to judicial departments for a four year term. The majority of their time is dedicated to jury trials and pre-trial hearings. They also preside over arraignments, reviews, non-jury (bench) trials sentencings, and are authorized to perform marriage ceremonies.
