Code Corrections - What & Why

SDCI Changes to Code

What Is Happening Now?

To clarify and improve the function of various code provisions, SDCI is proposing amendments to the Land Use code (Title 23) and related regulations and to several chapters of the Environmental Protection and Historic Preservation code (Title 25). We are proposing amendments to the following chapters in Title 25: Chapters 25.05.444, 25.05.675, 25.05.714, 25.09.045, 25.09.160, 25.11.020, 25.11.030, 25.11.040, 25.11.050, 25.11.060, 25.11.070, 25.16.080, 25.16.115, 25.16.150, 25.22.070, 25.22.135, 25.24.060, 25.28.230, and 25.28.290.

The proposed amendments generally include “clean-up” amendments that correct inadvertent clerical errors, incorrect cross-references, and clarify existing Code language. Our amendments also include relatively minor policy changes that do not warrant independent legislation. The proposed amendments are “omnibus” amendments because SDCI periodically packages a collection of amendments for efficiency.

The need for these amendments were identified by residents , elected officials, and City staff.

Environmental review (SEPA) for the code amendments is now available for review. The comment period closes on May 9, 2024.

City Council will hold a hearing on the proposed omnibus amendments for adoption in the 3rd quarter of 2024.

Please see the Code Corrections Project Documents page for more information.
