Seattle Code Adoption - What & Why

What’s Happening Now?
Seattle has postpoed the adoption of the 2024 Washington State Building Codes (Building, Existing Building, Energy, Mechanical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, and Fire). The effective date for the 2024 Seattle codes will be May 2027. We are developing the 2024 Seattle codes on a compressed schedule over the next 10 months due to the delayed completion of the State code adotion process.
SDCI anticipates the adoption of the 2024 Seattle Building Codes in the first quarter of 2027, and having the effective date align with the State of Washington’s effective date of May 2027.
