License and Tax Public Counters Reopen by Appointment Only

As we welcome people back to downtown Seattle, our tax and licensing office is gearing up to begin servicing customers in person once again! Our business license and tax customer service counter on the 4th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 Fifth Ave., is now open, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Service is available by appointment only and customers are required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

  • Apply for a business license
  • Renew a business license
  • File and/or pay city taxes
  • Speak with a tax specialist about tax and licensing requirements

Money orders are available free of charge at any Wells Fargo branch in Seattle city limits. Include the following information with your check or money order when depositing it at a drop box location:

  • Your name and contact information, so we can reach you if there are questions.
  • The bill or invoice you received OR
  • The account number or invoice number you are paying.
  • If you do not have an account number or invoice number, please provide the department contact, name and/or phone you are working with.

Your payment will be processed as soon as possible. Pet licenses can be purchased online here.
