Seattle Animal Shelter is open to the public for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. We are closed on Mondays and during all City holidays.
General Adoption Information
- It is important to consider the type of pet that would best fit into your family and lifestyle. Please see our Deciding to Adopt guide first.
- The shelter operates a queuing system to manage wait times and ensures everyone is served fairly. The waitlist opens at 12:55 p.m. on open days. This helps manage foot traffic when the shtler opens to the public at 1 p.m. You can sign up for the waitlist with this link.
- We are not able to hold available pets for adopters for any reason. For your convenience, our online available pet listings are updated live. If a pet is adopted or is no longer available, it disappears from the website almost immediately. Please be sure to refresh your web browser to update the webpage.
- If you find a pet you are interested in on our website, click its picture or name to see the pet's details and follow the instructions on the adoption listing. Please see our Adoption Process page for more details on how to adopt.
