Community Engagement

OPA’s community engagement team promotes awareness of Seattle’s police accountability system. This includes helping community members navigate the complaint process.

We meet with schools, libraries, nonprofit organizations, community groups, religious organizations, neighborhood boards, SPD precinct councils, and more. Presentations include topics like:

  • Introduction to OPA: Learn how OPA works
  • Complaint Process: Find out how to file a complaint and what happens next.
  • Case Deep Dive: Take a closer look at OPA’s process using a real case example.
  • Know Your Rights: Understand what to expect during common SPD interactions.
