Jail Locations and Visitation
The City of Seattle contracts with multiple providers of jail services to house inmates convicted with a Municipal Court of Seattle misdemeanor. Inmates may be housed in King County, or Snohomish County jail facilities. Currently, the King County Jail system holds the majority of Municipal Court of Seattle pretrial inmates. The Snohomish County jail system holds the majority of sentenced defendants.

As of January 1, 2011, the City of Seattle will no longer contract with Renton or Yakima jails. All Municipal Court defendants sentenced to jail will serve their time at Snohomish County Jail, unless a judge authorizes the sentence to be served in another jail.
